AMERICA IS A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY

I am concerned about the path our country is taking.  I just learned that our president stated to Moslem countries that the USA, founded on Christian principles, is no longer a “Christian” country.  While this statement by our chosen leader concerning the loss of our standard is upsetting in itself, the fact that I found an article in Newsweek attempting to confirm the same statement is doubly upsetting. 

However, a more careful inspection of the article does reveal that neither of the above statements are true.  The statistics quoted in the article actually state that “the percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 percentage points since 1990, from 86 to 76 percent,”(http://www.newsweek.com/id/192583, accessed April 8, 2009).  SEVENTY SIX percent!  In what way does that indicate that we are not a Christian Nation?  We are a Christian nation. 

Please stand up and acknowledge our Lord Jesus, and our dependence on him.  Do not let the evil overtake the world.  We are to hold back the evil. 

Holding back the evil includes speaking up for those who are unable to speak for themselves (the pre-born, the aged, and the comatose).  It includes being concerned for those who haven’t yet seen the difference between the road to righteousness and the road to damnation.  It includes loving (desiring their salvation and prosperity (my definition)) to those whom we, in our natural state, really prefer hating (desiring their harm and wising them evil (also my definition))

Please pray for God’s love on this country.  As a nation we are slowly going down the wide road that will lead to judgment and condemnation.  God’s people of the Old Testament went through times of blessing, only to turn their backs on God.  Then his judgment would fall on them (to bring them back to where they should be), finally, in their distress they would turn to him again.  If they had only kept their faces turned to God, and let him love them and lead them, they would not have had to go through the severe disciplines that they did.  Please pray, along with me, that we, as a country, are not on the brink of God’s discipline.  We CAN rest in his love if we obey him and allow his principles to guide us.
